After only eight months working at Elbit, Nick Griffiths became the president’s choice for outstanding employee. This extraordinary achievement was recognized after leading a major bid process and project in the field of electronic warfare – in a record of three months from signature on the contract to delivery.
Nick already knows how to say “ain be’aya” (“no problem” in Hebrew) – but gives all the credit for the specific project to his team. “I really think I had terrific people working with me. You can’t separate the work we did as a team, so I admit to being somewhat surprised. Anyway it’s nice to be seen and have your work acknowledged.”
My story
Nick is a project manager in the field of EW at ESUK. Upon taking the position, he began leading the preparations for two bids, and after they were won, led the projects themselves within the company and vis-à-vis the customer and end users. He came to Elbit after 9 years of army service and about a decade of experience in project management at defense companies such as BAE Systems and Babcock.
“I reached ESUK after seeing an opportunity, and was happy to discover more opportunities and a way of working that appealed to me,” he says. “I like the flexibility, the variety of people and enjoy the job itself. I’ve only visited the company’s sites in Israel once so far, but work closely with the COMINT and EW people in Israel. It’s fascinating to meet people who work in different ways. Culturally speaking, there isn’t actually much difference even though there’s a mixture here of European influence with Middle Eastern. I find the combination interesting and there’s a lot to be learned from each.”
In private life, Nick and his wife have three children, aged 13, 11 and 10. “I don’t have much time for hobbies. The kids are my hobby,” he laughs. “I enjoy riding motorcycles and every year we take the kids to France for vacation, where I like to Paddle Board.”
