“The earthquake in Turkey unveiled what could happen here in Israel. A major quake could lead to 7,000 casualties, according to Home Front estimates,” says Atalia Alcorat, head of the assembly and integration line team in the ISTAR and EW Division. In addition to her job at Elbit, Atalia has been volunteering with an emergency rescue unit in Modiin, a city in central Israel, and runs the emergency rescue unit in ISTAR and EW Division. She believes the tragedy in Turkey sparked a renewed awareness of the potential dangers a similar disaster could pose in Israel, emphasizing the importance of civilian preparation and drills. “I hope we never need to apply the knowledge we accrued,” she says.

My story

Atalia, an electronics practical engineer, has been with Elbit for about eight years. Her first job at the company was as an integrator. She was promoted to her current position as team leader three years ago. “Our main product is integrated in various airborne systems, for a foreign client,” she says. The team is responsible for a list of products and about a quarter of the products manufactured at the plant are produced by my team. This is a huge responsibility and involves a lot of complex interactions. I very much enjoy the challenge at work, the variety, and the fact that every day is different.”

Atalia has two children, 8 and 5, and starts her day at 7 a.m. Her demanding job requires her to work at the assembly lines and doesn’t enable “hybrid” work. Her spouse Nir, who specializes in knowledge management, is a great co-partner in raising the children, enabling her to advance professionally. “I wanted to get promoted at work for a long time and I’m glad I was seen by my managers.”

The Alcorat family lives near their parents on both sides and enjoy the proximity to the grandparents. In fact, Atalia and Nir have known each other since childhood; they lived in the same neighborhood and went to the same school. After traveling abroad after their army service, they reconnected again and have been together ever since.
Alongside her outstanding work and busy schedule, Atalia finds time to volunteer with the municipal rescue unit in her city and is helping expand the volunteer team where she works.

They say about me

"Atalia is a professional authority and a valuable source of know-how for her team and within the engineering team. She consistently meets the supply-schedule goals and leads the team to success. She is an example of commitment, dedication and constant improvement."
