Having started with Elbit America over 10 years ago, Blake’s journey has been one of continuous growth and advancement. After two years as a technician and seven years as a team lead, he took on the role of Facility Security Officer in January 2022, where he has led a team that has been instrumental in upholding the highest standards of site security and trade compliance. Among his key responsibilities in this role are to maintain the security requirements in support of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and maintaining all DoD-required facility clearance records.
My story
Blake’s in-depth knowledge of the OneERP system, acquired through hands-on training, made him an invaluable resource during the project’s transition and implementation. “Although my primary role doesn’t involve the project, my involvement goes way back to my days as a team lead. I made sure all of the nuances were captured and as many fixes as possible were implemented before we went live,” Blake said.
Not having a formal IT background didn’t deter Blake from mastering the system. Through a combination of on-the-job training, attending classes, and his proactive approach to seeking knowledge, he has thrived in a role that initially seemed outside his domain.
Blake’s advice to his colleagues is, “Listen to those who support you. Listen to understand, not respond.” By embracing different perspectives and working together, he believes greater success can be achieved for the company as a whole.
Beyond work, Blake’s personal life is a lively mix of love, family, and commitment. Celebrating 20 years of marriage, he and his spouse have built a strong bond since tying the knot at 19 years of age. With two vibrant daughters actively engaged in cheerleading, softball, and basketball, Blake embraces the whirlwind of family activities. While his own hobbies may take a backseat, classic rock music offers him solace.
