“I began working in aviation at a young age due to my interest in it,” says Rogerio Goulart Cecilio, Quality System and Suppliers Quality Manager at AEL, Elbit Systems’ subsidiary in Brazil. “I had joined AEL in 1988, before it became part of Elbit. After 35 years at the company, with its fascinating projects and dynamic challenges every day, I feel I’ve worked at countless different companies.”
My story
Rogerio and his family live in Porto Alegre, a large port city in southern Brazil, with 1.5 million residents, and it’s also where AEL is located. “At the start of the joint road with Elbit, we handled adapting and integrating the Israeli technologies on aircraft for the Brazilian air force,” he recalls.
“Gradually the knowhow built up here, through constant dialog with other ESL Divisions in Israel, and later local manufacturing as well. Over the years AEL managed projects to upgrade aircrafts, as well as projects for the navy, army. “For his contribution to national security, Rogerio was even awarded honors by the Brazilian air force and military police. In his current role, he is one of those responsible for the company’s local suppliers and partners development, company’s certifications and is participating, among other things, cross-company operational excellence program.
Outside of work, Rogerio volunteers at an assisted living facility for the elderly, operating a cinema room. “We make popcorn and refreshments for the residents, each of course according to the instructions of their carers, serve soft drinks and show them movies”.
“For me, it’s of enormous importance to help our elderly people,” he says. I am happy I could do my best for my parents when they needed me. In caring for them, I learned about the need to support elderly people and help improve their quality of life. These experiences changed the way I see the world.”
Following that chapter of his life, Rogerio hopes to spend more time with his wife Eliane and his daughters, Mariana (28) and Milena (19), with whom he is very close. “I very much expect to travel more with them. My family is unarguably my source of strength.”
