“I always knew my career would be in defense,” says Tehila Liad Levy. “The systems, the people, and the dynamic nature of these projects are exactly what I love about the job and what keeps me motivated. I believe in what we’re doing and it’s very important to me.”
My story
Tehila grew up in Petah Tikva as the youngest of four children, and the daughter of a kindergarten teacher and a career soldier. A military career was a natural choice for her, and she served as an Operations Officer for 8.5 years while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, followed by an MBA in business management. Later she joined IMI as a PMO in research and development.
After Elbit acquired IMI, Tehila became the Operations project manager in the Rockets and Missiles Business Unit. About a year ago, she was promoted to her current position as divisional chief. “This is a team of project managers that integrate projects from all across the worlds of ammunition,” she says. “Our job is to synchronize the projects from all business units, achieve optimal performance, and do so with high standards, commitment, and delivery on time.”
Tehila and her partner, Shiran, have two toddlers – three-year-old Noa and 18-month-old Yanai. Shiran leads the FP&A department at a global company, so they both have a demanding schedule. “I work out at a gym and run at least a few times a week. It’s my ‘me-time’,” Tehila says. “Shiran works on U.S. time, which is another challenge for us as mothers of small kids. We support each other, and our family also helps when needed.” Naturally, Tehila’s management and operational skills affect their home life. “On weekdays we have an actual synchronized schedule with the kids – who’s doing what with whom,” she says with a laugh. “On weekends, we value our family time very much, so we do activities together every Saturday.”
